Hi Team,

I currently have the audi TT 225 but it's approachig 55K now and on an 02 plate so thinking of getting it sold and considering an R32 Golf.

I know it's just a TT in a different suit but from what I've seen you get a lot for your money!

Anyone had any experience with them?

Cheers!

Mk4 or 5?

Mk4 seems to have a lot of kit for the money & is a bit of a looker.

Mk5 not so pleasing on the eye or 'designer brands' but still a good car.

I was looking at getting a new one about a year ago & they could be had from £19k. Obviously adding DSG & leather etc bumped that up quite a bit.

I like them!!

Sorry, should of said, It would be the Mk 4 lads! Ideally with the leather seats, not overly fussed about the DSG although Clarksons review says it's a must have!!

Not keen on mk5 either, looks pretty horid!

I think the 4's all have leather Konig seats....unless its certain colours (silver maybe) which get grey alcantara.

Dont think the mk4's have DSG option? Its a good system though, Ive got a semi-auto beemer & its great, makes me wonder why ive been using my left foot all those years like a sukka!!

IIRC all mk 4`s are manual

Konig seats are definately an option along with standard black leather i think? Also the leather/alacantra combo came in a few colours?

My mate has one in black and has all the added extras and is nice to drive. If i could afford the running costs i would def get one

Having owned one for over 2 years i could tell you it's a lovely car to own and drive, if you ignore the running costs lol. Returns around 22 mpg but could push that up to 28 if driving around in 6th gear all day.

The leather Konig seats are an optional extra but most will have them (you'll find a few with leather seat bolsters and cloth. Sat nav is fairly less common so look out for one with this, it looks pretty good and can be hooked up to dvd and ipods somehow.

0-60 6.5 seconds, top end 155 mph. Slightly quicker than the newer focus RS, Civic type-r etc.
Very low down power with such alot of torque too.

Servicing cost are aroun £200-300 for a fairly major one, although thats not a camchain one, which only needs doing at 80k i think.

Hope that helps.

I doubt very much that it will be quicker than a new focus rs.

New RS is something like 5.7 secs. Even the older RS will be slightly quicker to 60

Don't think it will be much quicker than the ST either. Maybe slightly.

I know from first hand experience. Had a play with a few tbh.

Lets be honest the R32 should be alot quicker and have alot more power when you consider the size of engine, it's so mildly tuned. I'm sure it SHOULD have around 300 bhp, which annoys me slightly.

The Mk4 is certainly not poop at all. Granted its an old design, but the R32 is much more than the usual golf. Its great car to live with and drive hard!

The Mk5 is obviously had some improvements. The extras and interior, the exhaust note (the best ive ever heard). The performance however is not greatly improved.

Mate had a turbo'd black one, they sound amazing and go pretty well.

Not sure worth swapping the TT for, get a V6 TT.
