i usually use total 10w 40 from work but i seen the advert and sometimes my car souns abit starved of oil on startup just for around 2 secs then its fine never used to do this just recently, just thought if this stuff sticks better its worth buying ,but also maybe just with it having done nearly 10,000 since the last change its maybe thinkening up just really want it to stop its not everyday either just every now and then strange tbh but i dont mind paying for good oil

I have to use a specific type of Castrol Edge in my V8. It costs the bloody earth.

Im sure its good stuff to use, but I feel the advert takes it a little over the top as most oils have additives etc in now days.
Go on to opie oils website and see what they have on there. Any good quality one should see you fine

i wouldnt put fully synth in anything unless its less than a couple of years old. Even then...only the A-Series engines are completely designed for fully synth. The C, X, Y or Z series engines...i'd still use the 10w/40 part synth.
Fully synth doesnt do it any good!

Use manufacturers spec, anything more is a waste of time on a standard (and probably most tuned) engine.
For a Corsa B it's always GM 10W40, anything else is a complete waste of money.

No you dont, Comma Long Life 5w-30 will be fine and should be considerably cheaper, there will be others available too. (thats if the V8 in question is that Rover 75 thing still)

Yes that's the one Adam but unfortunately this isn't the case.
If I remember correctly European and British stuff uses ACEA 1 & 2.
The trouble with my engine is being a Yank unit, it requires ACEA 3 spec stuff.
The only decent quality, tried and tested, full synthetic ACEA 3 oil readily available locally to me is Castrol SLX Longtec (now labelled as Castrol Edge 0 W 30 I believe).
It's dear, but it's cheaper and less agro than engine problems which can occur in American engines if non US domestic grade oil is used.
I don't need it all that often anyway and when I do I buy a case from Brown Brothers so it's cheaper than buying singles from somewhere like Halfords.
I'll gladly put Comma in my gratis Peugeot/Renault runaround but the car that will have cost me the thick end of thirty grand and five years of my life will only ever get really good oil.

How much is GM 10w40 for plebs? Is it not still cheap as in about a tenner?
I got 20L of GM 5w30 (I think, whatever the 1.9cdti's take) for 40 quid.
