Whittie do you rent because you prefer it or because it's difficult getting on the ladder?

I would get a mortgage tomorrow if I could, renting is a complete waste. I've not got a credit history at all, which is the reason I rent.

+ I don't have a deposit...

I'd much prefer to be putting my rent money into a mortgage...

I'm considering moving back home to my parents to save some more cash.

Probably a good move, I love my parents - get on with them great...

I really should move back in with them a couple of years, on my wage if I had a job near where they lived I'd be minted.

Most of my money goes on rent, council tax, bills, food, fuel, etc... if i lived at home i'd have an extra £1000 disposable. e.g. if I saved that £1000 a month, in 2 years i'd have an extra £24k in my bank.

P.S. most people I know down south who are my age and have houses, have all had inheritance from dead relatives...

That's how every single one of them have got their deposit and on the ladder.

I think it's extremely hard in todays age to save up and move into a house, even more difficult if you choose to move out and rent until you can.

Northerners I'm not talking about you with your 70k houses

I tried to save for a couple of years to buy but with 10k still couldn't see a way to buy a nice house on my own.

Renting doesn't bother me tbh, got no plans to buy either now.
