i've put my battery in the boot and earthed it, but not sure how thick the power lead will need to be going through the car back into the engine bay. would this be ok???

Though the second is 16mm, I'd be looking to use that size as a MINIMUM personally.

i used 4awg but iv got a battery lead from a volvo s80 it fit wen i cba

4 guage is ideal your starter motor,alternator main wiring on corsa`s arnt even that thick so 4 guage is more than ample i had no problems what so ever.

standard cables in the engine bay are usualy 8 gauge so 4 gauge should be fine, altough copper wire wouldbe better silver cable still does the job fine.
