Been spending a lot more money when I can afford it - again on bits that are yet to be fitted and all mechanical Just trying to get it as mechanically sound as possible atm though - getting the dizzy heights of 38mpg out of it now too Just ahd MOT as well which highlited a couple of very minor mechanical bits to sort (handbrake cable, split CV boot etc)

I'm also slowly trying to tidy up the engine bay, started off with trying to hide the manifold as it's a bit rusty so got myself my first (and last!) bit of engine bay bling:

Have fitted a couple of the "fluid" caps off my old C which are painted Audi Dolphin Grey - just need to do the oil one now. May also replace the front coilovers as mine are rusted to fook

Also got a new dipstick out the scrappy as mine snapped the other day. Also want to fit a battery bag and am still toying with the idea of getting the rocker cover sprayed up - I quite like it standard now though!

Oh, also fitting an airbox which I trial fitted today, so the air filter will be gone soon. Did a bit of derestricting on it too:

Do need a bit of advice on the airbox fitting though so if you could take a look @ this please: http://www.corsasport.co.uk/board/viewthread.php?tid=541695 that'd be great

That is all!

Cheers mate! No real plans for the rest of the car, just very subtle stuff. New exhaust system in a month or so too.

Interesting to hear you say that about the airbox as general consensus up till now has been that it drives better with a box! Will have to see I guess. Just need to get a suitable pipe sorted.

Standard corsa airbox is FAR to restrictive for an xe Rich.

The best filter i had on mine was a JR induction kit which i think ive got laying about somewhere.

I would get a BMC style air box.

I've got one on mine but didn't have any room for a cold air feed.

I replaced a cone filter with a standard 1400 airbox and it was miles better.Removed all the trumpets etc from inside and drilled a cpl of holes.

Any sort of exposed filter on a Corsa XE is a no no.Sooks up alot of heat from the manifold. Its basically right beside it.

Well am going to try the air box as also prefer the way it looks, will see, if it's crap then I'll look at air filters / induction kits available then.

38mpg? Still only works out as about 250-60 miles per tank, £30 - £35 but that's driven mixture of carefully and playing. Full service changing near enough every part possible, and changing the temp sensors etc.

Yeh I'm pretty chuffed with it, tbh I could probably get it better than that (into the 40's) but the fuel gauge is a ridiculously inaccurate once it's down to 1/4 of a tank - the slightest incline sends it into the red so I never know how much is left come 1/4 of a tank!

Filling up is also a bit of a game too as putting the nozzle in fully makes it click of straight away so I have to guestimate when it's full - hence why I never stick more than £35 in lol.

List of what you've changed please?

I get 32mpg from mine but I think there is still room for improvement

Plugs, ECU temp sensor and whatever the other one is there (I'm not all that mechanically minded ) oil & oil filter change, fuel filter is waiting to go on. That's about it atm. Got a new thermostat to fit as well as I'm sure it doesn't warm up as quickly as it could. Aim is to get it into the 40's regardless of how its driven if only I could get the fuel gauge to be more accurate!

Going off the fuel gauge to read mpg is not accurate btw.

This is how I would do it:

1) Fill up the car to the brim. Wait a few seconds then beginning filling again, click. Wait a few seconds and beginning filling until it clicks. So 3 clicks with a good pause in between.
2) Reset the trip distance monitor on the dash
3) Drive around
4) Come back to a fuel station and then repeat step one.
5) Make a note of the fuel put into the car and the distance monitor.

Take the distance and divide it by the number of litres put in - This will give you an answer in miles per litre of fuel.
Then multiply that value by 4.55
This will give you your Miles Per Gallon for that tank.

Example:
I drive for 300 miles
I fill up and put in 29.34 litres.

So 300 / 29.34 = 10.22
Then 10.22 x 4.55 = 46.5 MPG

Mieran - I do it on miles covered using litres put in and price paid - I use an online calculator

Ojc - Am in the progress of doing so - trial fitted it all in place today but need a new hose to make it fit the AFM properly Damn tight fit though and got to try and re route some wiring!

Yup same for me lol. I'm dreading it if I ever have to try and remove them for maintenance etc too. That's why I'm seriously toying with changing them anyway.
