Yeah the shitter with fallout is it will only allow X-amount of saves, and as it autosaves to a new file after each point, it fucks all that up

Does this game get better with time?
I've just borrowed it from a friend, played it for about an hour or so last night and found it very difficult to get into.

Yeah, definately gets better the more you play. Suppose it depends how much the story interests you.
A lot of people don't like it due to all the walking about - Once you've found a location you can fast travel. Its the subways which are tedious as they're like a maze.

I was the same but one of my friends couldnt get into it even after 10 hours gameplay... strange
Love this game to bits though, possibly the best gaming experience ive had or joint top with Halflife.
Im tempted to start it again but im sure ive racked up 90 hours with current character, done all expansions etc...
Is it worth Marc? big part that kept me going was the epic story.

I borrowed it because I was looking for a similar type of game to Mass Effect and having read some reviews and reading the comments on here I think I'll stick with it and see how I progress

Moe its worth putting the hours in mate, seriously... the expansions are good too.
Dont rush the main story though, it will railroad you to the end of the game.. there are squillions of locations and side quests etc.

I've actually not finished the game!
I got up to the Waters of Life all with good Karma. Level 18 I think. The Tenpenny Tower quest died on me so I couldn't get the achievement so started a new file last night as a bad girl. First thing I did after blowing up Megaton was the Tenpenny Tower quest and I finally have the achievement!
Problem is it seems to have wiped my other save file (Still got all the trophies) so looks like I'm going to have to start from scratch. It gave me chance to get the Bobblehead from Dads office though and now I can get the Level 6 bad Karma achievement etc. Plus I can level up my player differantly and take differant conversation routes etc.
Still not sure if I can bare to do it all though. My mate recently finished it with mixed Karma and missed out loads.

Yeah, I had a discussion with a mate about that. Game has far too many issues without being online!

Both have advantages.
Good and the raiders go after you. Bad and the Enclave go after you.
You can't win really. Both will give you certain oppertunties that the other won't.
I got loads more for blowing Megaton up than making it safe. 1000 caps!

If the player's karma ever becomes Good, they will be targeted by Talon Company Mercs (even if their karma subsequently drops back to Neutral or Evil). Likewise, if the player's karma ever becomes Evil, they will be targeted by Regulators, even if their karma later raises to Neutral or Good. A player that has been both Good and Evil (i.e. in order to recruit all followers) may sometimes find themselves attacked by both Talon Company Mercs and Regulators at the same time (though they may attack each other first!) Keeping a neutral Karma level will result in neither Regulators nor Talon Company Mercs to bother you.

I didn't realise neutral meant they left you alone!!!
I might go for the animal perk this time where they attck anyone attacking you.

I've been doing all the side quests so I'm strong enough to venture out and do Following In His Footsteps.
I did Strictly Business, Big Trouble In Big Town, Blood Ties, Replicated Man and Superhuman Gambit recently.
I'm nearly Level 10 and about to start Those!
I'm going to get to 10 before I start and choose the Here & Now perk to get to Level 11. Those! should then be a breeze and I can then do the main quest.
Going to try and do every side quest available.
Friday off so should get a couple of quests done, so should soon be the same level as before without having ventured too far in to the wastes.

Ive been considering starting this again too - completed it before with good karma. Would like to blow up Megaton in a new game, but i dont think im evil enough lol. Probably will though.
I find the best things to build up are your lock picking skill and small guns. In my first game I had 100% lock picking skill but couldnt find any damn lock picks
