unless you're going travelling or have something set up for the gap year i really wouldn't bother. You're better of heading to uni (if that's your plans) and taking a placement year....

I left school, had 2 months before apprenticeship started so just worked, got familiar with my job before the apprenticeships started, I can't sit about for weeks, I have to be doing something.

Went to college for 2 years doing beauty therapy, whilst working in a salon aswell, decided it wasn't my thing and wanted to be a nurse, did an access to nursing course, went to uni, and now im a nurse/theatre nurse/medical representative, I have to keep my patient care upto date in order to still be known as a nurse.

I'd got a job offer before I finished my exams. Had three weeks break after the end of exams and then started full time.

Was also working weekends at Argos at the time, so working 7 days a week. Didn't last long

college and had a part time job packing fruit despite what you may think i quite enjoyed it, and look back fondly at the days i was there

then i left college which coincided with the factory i worked at closing down so i got made redundant. then i worked at a hotel restaurant in southport for afew months and hated it. i needed the money though and i didn't want to be on the dole. then my uncle offered me a job in his IT firm, he'd train me up etc and i've been here for the last 3 years
