i thought same.... his was never rolling roaded but with piper cams, uprated ecu, power cap, sbd manifold, lightened flywheel, and gas flowed head all done at mpg performance center that was rough figure of what it was making, plus it was stripped with light weight bucket seats.... really was a mental little car.

You could have a shit driver. My mates xe used to dril n/a vx220s and sit on mates gt4...and the lad with the gt4 wud admit it. Mates made 180bhp wit few choice mods. I driled a clio sport once, backed off for sum lights and he came flying past pissed off, locked up on the bend and smashed into curb side on and had to get recovered. And i only had a c16xe, but it wasnt standard and used to beat 106gtis and they go wel.
Corsa 20xe wil go ok, but driver skil too unles its a straight road lol

i didnt say turbo as i dont no what it was, he said an impreza couldnt pull away from 2nd gear up to top end of 4th.... and if yours was 167bhp surely would stick with a standard 182?

ok, on further reflection i am starting to become slightly swayed with the idea that it could be possible, but im still rather sceptical.

My mates old 2.0 16v Tigra (one that Jimmy2.1 now owns) couldnt pull away from my 1.6 untill about 90ish.

if you take the powe to weight ratio of a standard impreza uk turbo, 180 odd bhp per ton ish , stripped xe with a few mods will probably match that

they're quick enough tbh. not as if theyre dog slow.
my work mate just bought a uk turbo (p reg) and we had some fun off a set of lights just to compare and he pulled on me a little. not exactly slow.
