if You bought a car and had to drive it home, without tax
but you had mot and insurance, you'd get screwed right?

Depends if you get caught

But seriously, if you were driving it home and you were gonna get it taxed in the next day or whatever, you should be alright. Popo might want you to bring proof to the station that you paid after you were pulled.

i drove my MX5 back from Evesham to Didcot (~60miles) on a Friday evening. the car was bought with a new MOT and i had the insurance start the day of pick up but i couldnt get to the car/paperwork t a Post Office to get it taxed until Saturday.

I got home. parked up, alked into the Post Office first thing Saturday and had no problems....thankfully

all depends if you get caught but it would have to be on an ANPR machines as no copper would be looking at a windscreens tax disc to decide to pull you over! fortunately my journey was all on quiet back roads which probably helped my case

i drove my car back from london to reading without tax, saw a lot of police cars including two traffci police, never got stopped.

i think if you have evidence that you have just brought the car then there fine with it, they just give you this form which says you have been pulled over for it already and everything is fine and that you aware of it, just in case you get pulled over again that day for the same reason.

I thought insurance was invalid if the vehicle wasn't taxed? I've done it before tho when I was desperate. Depends if you're unlucky to get a copper behind you or somethin.
