Yeah that's great weight saving right there, particularly as you've a solution if the weather isn't ideal.

Yeah the soft top had a rip in the rear window also which wasnt great. Looks much better too, not that its ever going to be a show stopper.

Needs the headlights removing as well. Sure you could get some main beam units in the sidelight/indicator thing.

Thats such a good idea, didnt even think of that. Sure someone must have done it before. It would be easy enough to vow not to drive it at night but its easier said than done, especially when eve been known to travel hundreds of miles to and from circuits.

You need headlights, just not heavy ones.

Biggest problem would be that you probably can't just upgrade the lights in there and use the same loom as it probably wouldn't handle the current. Sure if you strip down the folding ones you can move the wiring to there down the front though, or if not run some more heavier stuff down there.

You would have to check Construction and Use regs but yeah, you have options.

Might even be easy enough to make them easily removable at events. Like I say though I myself havent actually seen the car in the flesh for a while, im at uni. My brother just sent me the pics.

What about replacing the pop ups with flat units?

I did the same on my RX7, meaning you get to lose a load of the weight from the headlight motors, frames etc and can get away with a much smaller light unit. Obviously, light quality is likely to suffer, but much less weight.

Looking good Are you a member of mx5nutz.com? A guy on there sorted me out with a dash, steering column, ignition lock, rear lights and an airflow meter all free of charge yesterday after mine still isnt on the road after an attempted theft over a month ago He still has loads of bits that he needs to get rid of before the lease is up on his unit so if you need anything for it I'll put you in touch with him

Me neither, I don't think there's enough slope on the bonnet for them tbh.

They do exist, but seem to be rare. And not as pretty as the RX ones due to the square shape of the MX light.
