Right lads and ladies, I have tried backpacking forums and gapyear forums but no one seems to respond to me. Maybe they just hate me? I don't know.

So I thought fudge it I will try the BEST Source of travelled people I know.

What I need to know is how much should I be looking to budget for a months worth of travelling in indonesia. Starting at Surabaya and flying home from Bali. This is not including Hostels. That has already been sorted. Just looking for advice on day to day living. Want to do as much as I can within the time scale.

So drop some wise knowledge bombs in my direction please!

as already discussed this evening my good friend, i think £30-40ish a day to be on the safe side, but realistically if your budgeting hard £20? its not expensive if you eat and drink cheap.

also you need to think about occasions where you'd need to pay to do activities / see attractions, or visit places where you have to pay to get in etc.. as you said, you'd want to fit as much in as you could.

but having never been there I may be wrong. maybe you could live off a slice of cheese and a bread stick.

Bit extreme cheese and bread stick lol.

Looking at taking around 6-700 for should be about 20-25 a day max to live on which will be okish but no idea as I haven't been there. Need some first hand experience.

the one problem we have at the moment is the pound is weak as fuck.

on that channel 4 ultimate traveller thing they've got daily budgets of £12.

When I was travelling, I spent around £4-£6 on hotel / dorm room... then £2 ish each meal... then £1-£2 per alcoholic drink. But the hidden cost is travelling about... e.g. getting overnight trains, taxi's, tuk tuks, boats etc.

It is what got me interested in Indonesia as I was originally planning to go to Australia for 3 months.

They survive on £12 a day including hostels so I am guessing £20 a day excluding should be more than enough monies but I worry about these things so need some conformation.

And the tits on those girls are massive.

if you do get stuck you could always just sell yourself to a big african man?

even better, just take £200 and take a nationwide flex account card... which lets you have free withdrawals abroad...

Then you can get more or less as needed

and do it!!!

Fuck, I'd love to go off for a month right now to Indonesia and through bali right now... I really miss being out there!

Thing is, while you're over that way (you're main cost will be flights getting over there), I'd suggest checking out Vietnam / Laos and Thailand. An air asia flight from Indonesia to Vietnam will prob only cost about £20-£30.

Where as Asia was fun and an adventure!

This is what I need, Someone that has first hand experience. Brilliant stuff. Planning to go in sept for like 180 to Surabaya. Would love to go sooner but lack of funds and lack of cheap flights stop me from doing so. Bloody money!

You are aware we are not taking Mayan with us yes? Even though he made me tell him I loved him, I don't think he will pay for my body.

The other thing that'll cost you a lot is activities and learn to negotiate with everyone about everything... they'll start at some price that's about 8 times what it should be.

Part of the experience in my eyes. Haggling is not my strong point as I am as shy as fudge. But hoping after this month Ill be out of my shell and abusing people over prices.

Oh and on the tit talk. Chloe is a bit of a bitch but my lord would I bash her apart. Dirty posh lass. Lovely job.

Hmm...

I'm thinking, if I don't have great business success in the next couple of years (will give it a go and probably fail) ... then I'll be going travelling again!

I miss it so much. England just seems so dull and doing the 9-5 is just so mundane... you just feel your life is slipping away.

Where as when travelling I was literally able to go where ever I liked and do what I want when I wanted.

...

Last time I went

Vietnam -> Cambodia -> Laos -> Thailand -> Malaysia -> Singapore -> Australia -> New Zealand -> HongKong.

Next time I'd love to do Indonesia, Japan, China, India, Russia, Dubai, Africa, Brazil, LA / Las Vegas / San Fran, New York...

Paul I would love to do all of that travelling. Working is a bitch and I hate the lack of variation that I have come to know in England. Just a new way of life is what I want.
Sad this is I know that as soon as I go, I wont want to come back and will finds ways to get myself to stay out there.
How hard is it to find work over there? Any ideas? Would love a beach life instead of english life.

FUUUCcckkk

Just seen how cheap flights are

£350-£400 return!!! fucking hell that's dirt cheap... I've just been scammed more than that on my exhaust (which will never turn up) :doyle: Fuck!

Spend a month or two travelling, spend max £2k...

Fuck, I may need to get this done again...

Thing is when I went travelling my flights total was like £1500 - but that was coz I went all over the place.

To only spend £350 to drop you in asia, you can then take cheap flights or trains everywhere within asia to where you want to go...
