Anyone else lost money on cars due to mistakes or accidents?

If so how much?

I bought a Punto for £5.5k.

I bet it isn't worth that now.

I lost money.

Yep, £3700 on my first Corsa by stripping it and selling the shell for £300 to Rick Draper, £1000 on my Nova by swapping it for a Corsa SRi which turned out to be worth £300 as a trade in on my Corsa C, which I lost £2k on when I sold it for £3k, lost about £3k on my Fiesta as it's sat in a yard in bits, Lost £460 on my Cavalier when I gave it away when the clutch went, lost £1500 on the missus' 350Z when we sold it back to Nissan.

I'm awesome with cars.

2nd owner. Straight away would lose money. I got it for a bargain price, but bet if I traded it in I would get that for it.

I've not lost money on the cars themselves. But I've ploughed quite a lot of money into cars and then sold them for the same purchase price.

The joy of buying cheap crap cars means I can't lose much money.

Worst purchase was my recent Fiesta, £450 bought. Clutch went, replaced that, costing probably £150. Something else went, sold it for £200.

Not to mention the money spent on modifying the cars that you never get back.

If I bin my S3 through my own fault I will lose nearly £13,000 as I'm on my dads traders policy and it wouldn't be worth claiming because of NCB's. Pressure!

I bought my Signum 3.2 Elite for 5.5k, just before the news about the new tax bands, sold it less than 18 months later for 3k. however it did need both back boxs, a wheel bearing, and new brakes. So glad to get rid. But it's very rare to break even, or make a profit.

Something is only worth what someone wants to pay for

I bought a polo three years ago for £6k and spunked £1k+ on a bilstein kit and 17's with yoko tyres after having it for one month, went out to test the limits, promptly wrapping it round a lampost
I'm still paying the finance on it now

Got my corsa for nothing, sold it for £1000ish. Fiesta was £1400 sold for £1000. Mr2 brought for £3750 (roof wasnt folding, first day I had it looked down where in folds to find a 2ltr water bottle jamming it ) with similar milage, condition going for £4500 - £5000 now, well happy.
