Do you still have your warranty? They'll fix it for free if it is in date.
Ring them, and say you have 3 red rings, and follow their instructions.

Yeah its free aslong as its less than 3 years old, you realise 4 red lights mean the av cable aint plugged in right?

4 red rings does mean your AV cable is not plugged in at all
/ properly.

So did the yellow ring of death and the blu Ray drives failing.
All products come with some issues, just a shame there has been so much issue for the 360 really. Kudos to MS for sorting it though.
Sony are awful for getting anything done.

I got rrod, got it back, sold it for moneys. Got a ps3 from dad, sold it, bought 360. Ps3 may be superior but I don't enjoy it, so why have it each to his own and all that

Xbox lovers all slate sony sayin they have rubbish service quality ect, my ps3 yellow light of death'd on me just before christmas, i phoned on a friday had a new one by monday off them, someone came to the door, dropped off the new one and took the old one like that...

easy to follow instructions, I have fixed 6 of my friends Xbox's using this including my
own which has lasted 2 years now ( longer than it did from new )

my friend did the fix himself. lasted a week
bought an elite, lasted 10 mins. exchanged for another elite and that is currently working.
i'm not sure what MS did to fix mine but i fully expect it to die again.
they just fail.

anyone checking to see if they have a jasper model?
as i was told they not meant to break, and hoping mine doesn't
although my mates had the basic xbox 360 from when they 1st come out and its lasted all those years, and he leaves it on nearly all the time

I think the rrod is a bit hit and miss, but have heard about the Jasper models which are elite only iirc! I want one but no moneys, ill have a look on google to see if any jaspers have failed from rrod. I wouldn't bother fixing it myself tbh, rather use a free warranty lol.

My xbox is an origional core from way back when saints row came out 
had it repaired once under the extended warranty, then it lasted till a month or two ago.. That's what 5 years?
Hours of cod with nic barnes must have killed it!
I might try one of those kits before I from out for a l33t

My old Core system from launch lasted until 2 years ago then RROD'd, after repair (free) it's been going strong ever since,
My new Elite has been fine so far touch wood. Apparently the failure rate is much lower on the newer models
