my mates looking for a 1.3 8v vauxhall engine to put in a stock car hes making. has to have a carb as well for the class he is entering. supposedly it was on novas and mk2 astras these came in. does anyone know where the best place to find one is? have tried alot of scrappies but cant find any, had a quick look on migweb and png and cant find any in the classifieds. idealy he's after a full car as he needs the manifolds and box etc.
any help would be much appreciated

yeah think it was from a nova sr. and some kind of mk2 astrathere was one for sale on migweb but someones already bought it.

You're going back a bit there, Astra mk2 between about 84-88 had them. Not sure what else. Best of luck with that one!

yeah there not the easiest things to come accross. unfortunately the class he wants to enter only let you use those engines. will keep looking around though and hopefully something will come up. all the novas on ebay seem to have redtops or lets in them these days, there probably a big pile of the 1300 engines somewhere that no-one wants to use!

lol yeah probs ian. we were hoping they were going to change the rules allowing you to use the 1300 crossflow engines from ford ka's and fiestas as these are easier to source but unfortunately it has to be the vauxhall engine. the only other option is to use a 1.2 8v vauxhall engine and see if it can be bored to a 1300

you can get the c12nz engine, and fit a 1.3 head, then change pistons in block and get a 1.3. like a stroker kit.
my friend dave restored a nova sport, and he got told that but he sourced a 1.3 engine with the irmscher carb setup, was worth a few bob once done!

The Nova SR came with 1.3/1.4 carb's motors. So did the Sport. But a Sport engine will set you back a hell of a lot.

cheers for that eck. there was a 1300 8v on mig complete with box for £80 down at dumfries so would have been handy, never noticed it untill this morning though and its alreadyu been sold, sure something will turn up though

I did a race in a 1300cc corsa stock car, had a 4 speed box but it was faster in 3rd, it was propper funny, felt twatted when Id finished though

1.3's came in Nova Sports (with carbs), SR's and standard models, I've seen the engines on ebay before so I'd be looking on there.

My old Nova was a 1.3 SR. Awesome engine really, properly revvy.

Sport engines just a 1300 with 40's.
