well last friday went down to Alloa and picked up guy from my works R1 he bought, very clean bike (and it has a steering damper fitted )

so we arranged that on saturday we would go out for our first run of the year.

the roads still have quite alot of grit/sand on them in some places, but in some other places it was perfect, and it was a perfect day for it.

forgot how good it feels to give it a big handfull of throttle and terrorise the countryside

the bike was very dirty after our afternoon out, so gave it a wash and polish and tucked it back up in the workshop until i get back from singapore.

i have just ordered new rubber for it too, not cheap, but needed

no square tires here

few pics for your enjoyment.

out:

I had my small plate on as i had left my tiny one at home

back in the workshop clean (without the front stand for some reason?):

back on both stands and quad back in next to it:

Sorry theres no speedlines/gsi kits/redtops

attention all you car cleaners/detailers:

what do you recon wou be the best product for cleaning my bike? theres is so much nooks and crannies that are pretty much impossible to get into with a brush/sponge.

i was thinking about this snow foam stuff , then a blast with pressure washer??

talk to me

sponge will ruin the paint eventually, for quality, use a wash mitt to wash, application pad to apply polish, micro fibre cloth to remove polish etc.

snow foam is very good, and it does losen all the dirt so its easyer to clean but if your bike/car is well protected with wax snow foam will more or less clean the bike if the dirt isnt to stuck on to the paint.

and as said by root use a deep pile wash mitt to reduce swerl marks.

and a micro fiber dying towel to dry it

Dude, don't wash it.

I never wash my bike anymore.

Solution: Go to Halfrauds or other material place. Get some nice soft cleaning towels.

I soak one towel, wipe the bike over of all the dirt. As your using soft damp material is shouldn't scratch (nor should you have stones physically attached to your paintwork )

I then use the other towel thing to dry the bike off, gets rid of watermarks as well.

Then if im feeling generous, i might give it a polish. But every time I come home I wipe over the bike and it takes me all of 10 minutes total.

I used to take a sponge to it and it took me bloody ages!!!!

it appeals to my lazy side of rinse, spray on, scrub, rinse, dry, done!

now tucked up in the new garage, will hopefully get pics up tonigt, got a good blast on it today aswell before i cleaned it, coming towards the traffic cops above the speed limit hanging of the side was the highlight, once i had picked it back up the throttle got pinned, then got to my garage and started cleaning

TODAYS EVENTS:

well took my bike from where i kept it over winter (my uncles farm) down to my new garage.

first stop was to give it a wash to get all the mud etc off (yes mud!! i had to take it through my uncles and it was a bit muddy)

bought a few products yesterday, and set about cleaning it. started off with a good pressure wash to blast all the shit off, then used a degreaser on all the parts that grease/grime get on,and gave it a scrub with this flexi brush thing i had, worked ace. then once rinsed, used the big bottle of spray and covered whole bike in it, then using my new mit thingy and clean water in a bucket cleaned it off. next was the wheels, then rinsed the whole thing, chamiosed dry, then took it to garage where it got put on its stands and used the spray prtoectant stuff and sprayed all the parts (except paintwork) then used the carnuba wax stuff and waxed all paintwork.

looking extremely clean now (like it usually is)

And the finished product, cant really see how well it looks in this pic, but ahwell

next plan is to get the wheels off (more cleaning, and tires getting fitted)

bike show at edinburgh on sunday

hope you guys like

All winter I've been promising to do a full wheels off clean but it's just been crappy weather all winter so never bothered. I was going to strip it down and replace a few bits but just didn't have the space as my garage is full of car parts after breaking up a car. Once I've got space she'll get a proper treatment
