Weight.
Astra VXR will only run a 14.8/9 odd in standard form.
I still say these modern turbo generation hot hatchs arn't great at lunches. 30+mph, sure, good cars, but from 0, not good.
19" wheels, 1400kg odd = slow from 0. That'll never change.

Lunches? Mine rarely gets hungry.
I would have thought it would be better as well Graham if I'm honest.
I managed a 14.9 in a standard Astra running 95RON fuel and no diff.

As Daimo said, it weighs 1480 kgs...once I got going it was fine, launching wasn't easy tbh but somebody who's done it a few times might be better. Had a few comments saying they thought it'd be better but don't know why given the all round stats and book time of 14.5 seconds. My mate ran his standard Burg VXR and got a 15.4 so I was happy with this
I'm also running Vredestein Ultrasessentas so hardly the cream of the crop in terms of tyre choice
You can see the 106 get a much better launch thanks to being N/A & lighter, reeled him in once I was into 3rd though much to his disgust
Thanks Jonny

106 and saxo always get good launch. 14.9 aint bad at all. 16 odd seconds to 100mph is good for standard front wheel drive car really.

Hmmm that doesnt inspire me with confidence about the MPS, my old 106gti did a 15.1 with old nankangs and no diff.
I would have thought the MPS would be a hell of a lot quicker tbh.

I think they are pretty good but for the small price difference between these and Paradas I don't see why people pick them. They've been fairly good but I have nothing to compare to so far I found Pod tarmac crappy compared to on the road it never normally spins in the 3rd in the dry which it did on my first 2 runs

Honestly you can't really compare it to a 106, it's 100bhp more but probably 400kg more too
If you lived closer I'd take you out as once you've got up to speed it just keeps going as you can see in the video

Indeed
It wasn't damp nah it was nice and sunny up their and the amount of people who kept crashing it was being dried all the time

Try any 2.0 corsa, 16v saxo etc when your rolling and it would perform much better. Its just pulling all that weight from a standstill from the front wheels and a lot of power.
I wouldn't be too worried. Terminals near 100mph so its not bad My XE was hitting 91/92mph, and Donnas LET was doing 100+mph but a similar time. I think a standard VXR will hit about 100mph too.
Your bike will be doing about 120 though

I'm not fussed mate I was happy with it just don't see why everyones saying they thought it'd be faster lol. It's not a jet car :-/ As you say on the road once rolling it's a quick mover!
Gonna go a few RWYB days and will take the bike to one at somepoint

I still love the MPS but if i'm thinkin of selling the Evo for one I want to make sure the performance aint a massive drop.
My LCR was nearly the same power as your car graham at 269bhp/266lbft but it was a bloody quick big car and would leave my old 106gti for dead from a standing start.
Still think i'm gonna buy one tho

Yeah I did as I say once I got into 3rd I pulled on him really fast he got a 15.4.
Again, going into weight, LCR weighs 180kgs less, I don't think people are getting it into their heads that the MPS weighs more than a new FRS
