Hi All
Well i bought a d40 off morpheus off here, really happy with it.Obviously using a little argos digi cam wasnt what i needed so its good to have a good cam at last.
What do you think of these for a rookie?
comments welcome

Try to avoid using the on camera flash, which it looks like photos 2 and 3 have had? Adjust camera settings to compensate for low light etc.

Cheers deano. My pc is currently aware having windows 7 installed so I'm tempted to install cs3 on it as i'm a rookie with that two but I'm tempted to learn the camera and cs3 at the same time

for the last one you need a tripod and a longer shutter speed
number 2 in the first one is the only one i like personally.

I got a tripod matt, i bought a hama one from asda at a bargain price of £12 It's really good...
As for shutter speeds, How can i do this feature? I'm still very new when it comes to the d40.

that tripod is still fairly flimsy (had one and still got movement on long exposures) eventually id upgrade it tbh as if you start doing long exposure stuff it will annoy you, settings wise either use manual or set it to shutter priority which on a nikon i havent got a clue what/where it is.
btw start entering into the weekly challenge thread

Yeah I know what you mean about flimsy.I had a good tripod about 8 year ago for my camera recorder which was really strong. It was from jesspos iirc....
Ah got ya mate, well I'm hopefully getting the manual off morpheus sometime next week as he needs to find it which will help me out loads...
Yeah I will enter i think, The town where i live has alot of photo potential

Twist the selector thing to S mode, then use the scroll wheel underneath to change the amount of time the shutter is open.
1/2 or 1 second should do the water effect I think

Need to clean your lens by the looks of things too as all the shots have the same grey dot near the top left.
Like # 2 and 4 of the first batch
