Is there any reason for wanting a stretched tyre or is it just for the sake of having a stretched tyre?

but what im saying, stand behind the car and look dead straight onto the edge of the rim, the tyre pretrudes the rims by about 2 3 mm

Thats what tyres do that are the correct size for the rim though!

165/50/15's won't be stretched on a 6" wide rim, but i think it'll do what your wanting

Do your tyres have a "rim protector"? as this is exactly what its for.

Every tyre fits differently, but you would need a 185 or 175 if you want it to be "thinner" look for ones that dont have the rim protector though.

that would be a tyre with a rim protector then...

my front's have none and the tyre doesn't stick out at all. my rears have rim protectors and look a bit crappy and stick out a bit but this is to stop light kerbing.

just go into a tyre shop and ask for a 195/45/15 without rim protectors.

nope. you want correct tyres for the wheels or the handling etc of the car is a lot worse. stretched tyres maybe ok for cars that park on long grass. but a daily driver that gets used be better to have proper tyres for comfort etc.

no,just means you're more likely to kerb the wheels if you park close to kerbs.
