They dont handle great to be honest. When i bought mine it was slammed on standard shocks, looked great but pogo sticked all over the place.

I fitted the official Seat Sport suspension kit which i found to soft and there was never any sharpness to the handling.

The only hot hatch that didnt give me any real confidence on b road thrashes and nearly sent me into a hedge on one occasion as well as nearly understeering into an oncoming vehicle.

Reliability I couldnt fault it, it originally had an overboost problem as it didnt like the H variant of the N75 valve fitted by previous owner.

Other then that was solid. Was remapped on the standard K03 turbo which is breathless at high revs. If your buying one try and find one with a K03S and aftermarket IC as seems to be a common mod.

Standar seat suspension is crap on most models, stick some decent shocks/coilies and it will be miles better

Spacers on the back help too.

I loved my Cupra. Was fun to drive and looked nice, even standard.

Im hopefully selling mine today!

Very glad to be getting rid, without doubt THE worse car ive ever owned.

Build quality has been less than perfect, handles badly, doesnt feel built to last at all. Unless you throw money at it, its tedious and dull to drive as well!

Will never own another SEAT, has been absoloute pants. Ive owned the car for around 6 months now. 3 owners from new and its on 80k now.

Also be prepared to get annoyed at the volume control.

Strange that, I had mine 4 years. Did 50k in it during that time and it never went wrong or pissed me off. In fact it was the cheapest car to maintain I've had to date.

My toledo, which my brother now has is that well put together that it was a pita to do any work on because of the amount of things you had to take apart to get to anything.

I think fir3vip3r got a bad one.

Mine was great, never went wrong or let me down. I just personally found it boring to drive. And it did handle pretty shocking to be honest.

Lee I think you have been unlucky and had a friday afternoon one

My ibiza and Leon cupra have been 2 of the most reliable cars I have ever owned.

why do you think they are cheaply made Nic? from experience the only cost cutting I can see from other VAG products is possibly cheaper interior materials?

Only minor work tbh. Fitted the seat sport suspension kit to the ibiza. bit of messing about with N75 valves and fitting a CAI.... nothing hardcore tbh

Not on the Mk3's, sooo easy as they have a different hub set up to the Mk4 platform (and leon/tolly) The guys I know with Cupra's have hardly any problems! My 1.6 was fine, electronics aren't the best, but no biggy, only window regulators and volume control

I had a few problems with my Ibiza cupra when I had it. Mostly sensors playing up and the usual coil packs. Only thing major was the o2 sensors packing in and costing me £180 to put right, having said that i'd have another one. Mine was lowered on the H&R Cup suspension with 20mm rear spacers and upper front SEAT sport brace and it handled pretty good. I got mine mapped and even tho it was quick the turbo ran out of steam very quickly, like has been said find one with the k03s or better fitted.

The Mk3 is actually a facelift of the Mk2 which came out in 93! But its mainly Mk2 and some Mk3 golf parts (chassis and drivetrain wise anyway)
