I'm up there this weekend, at the Dean Court Hotel.

Where are the nice bars? Not wetherspoons style of place, somewhere without chavs, should there be a likelyhood of seeing any...

I hope to god you are joking

the first sign on the wall of the jorvik center tells you the handrail on the stairs is still the original one since they opened the museum

I went to the Jorvik Viking Centre about 18 years ago and it was really good, I am intending on returning.

I'm not that fussed about trains, I imagine the museum is really, really good, but I just don;t know whether i'll be bored or not...

Apparently they've had a refurb so it might be worth the visit. Likewise though, i'm not a huge fan of trains either, but some of the locomotives are pretty impressive...

Marcs pretty much listed the best places right there. I think you will enjoy evil eye, especially if you are into some random cocktail concoctions. You wont find any chavs in there anyway

just one of the signs they have up on the wall telling you... pretty much lets you know whats to come the fact they feel they need to tell you about a handrail, cant actually think of anywhere else that i have been that has even bin remotly that bad as a museum.

And? Durham is a nice clean posh city, shame its littered with Chinese and southern students (not that I live in the city).

I did both of these back on a schooltrip to York plus the thing where you live in a saxon village for day, collect firewood and fend of warriors and their dogs attacking, standard Saxon day
