The set I have, are painted black and not very well.
My question is, would it be possible to sand it back to the black abs plastic and get it smooth enough to look normal?

Do you mean smooth enough so that you could paint it and get a close finish to the cars paintwork if sprayed or to match your unpainted plastics mate?

you wouldnt do it by sanding only by some sort of paint remover, like nitromors but i would think that would damage the plastic underneath too

your telling him to put nitromors on plastic? :S wet sand them and get some textured bumper paint mate

no if you read what i wrote i said you wouldnt do it by sanding only by using some sort of paint remover like nitromors but that would damage the plastic,
i thought that was quite a clear sentence to understand? maybe if i wrote it in txt spk if may have been clearer to you

You could try to retexture them Adam DannyW did this on his airdam rear bumper so it might be worth dropping him a quick u2u to see whats involved

yes you can do it by sanding them, would only wet sand it tho and it will not be a quick job

If they are rep ones i'd say they'll be fiber glass. So no, you're best of painting them.

i used nitromors on my gsi bumper to get the top bit back to plastic to make it belnd in with arches and worked a treat, only took about an hour aswell
