I'd like to archive my entire DVD collection to my NAS device for playback using my PS3 and / dreambox's around the house.
What's the best software to do this?
Cheers,
Stu

DVD43 plugin (free, just google it) and then an application called 1click - http://www.lgsoftwareinnovations.com/
Obviously you can purchase it in all good software stores.
Can use the IPOD one to rip as an MP4, and most movies at good quality are around 750mb.

I use DVD Decrypter and then AutoGK to encode the VOB files to a quality of my choice. The results are very good.

Cheers guys, I'll give them a look tonight.
Any idea how long each one takes to convert? I've got a lot to get through

Depends on the processor. What you got?
A decent dual core (like an E8400) can do it in about 2 hours or so i think...for a good quality rip.

Hmm not sure TBH.. Dell 1555 - can't remember the exact spec.
Can they be ripped without converting? I understand they'd take up more space, but right now that isn't too much a problem. Would this also improve the playback quality? I've noticed a few DivX files look wank when playing back on my plasma

are you looking to compress files further or just rip as they are on a DVD?

Whichever's easiest and quickest TBH.... I'm not fussed how much space each one takes up just now, provided they're of a correct file type for playback on my PS3 over the wired network.

Use DVDfab Plat edition, you can aquire it from the usual sources or wait until i get home and upload it to rapidshare, will bung some instructions in for you on basic ripping

divx/xvid files look shit on all TVs simply because they're a lower resolution and encoded with a lower bit rate than the source file. if size isn't an option, just rip the DVD VOBs into an ISO
