Yeah, Its only when you close the throttle that the pressure become too high and the valve expells the air.

So do you need to adjust the spring pressure so its not constantly open

vacum pulls it open ie when you come off boost postive charge, the negaivtive vacum pulls it open and releases exessive pressure

though its a twin piston design so doesnt suc air in when not on boost as has an air flow meter

so just woundering when i vacum it up, it is supost to hold isnt it?

vacuum from which end warren?
the side that attatches to the boost piping? with a vacuum it should hold correct

a combination of the spring and the possitive pressure from the inlet to the vac pipe hold it shut, and then when you back off the throttle, a combination of the possitive boost pressure and the vacuum from the inlet overcome the spring and release or "dump" the excess boost

A twin piston DV requires vacum and pressure.

Is it a Bailey? Have you checked the spring is intact? If its damaged, it obviously won't open or close properly which is why you're hearing it quietly at times.

Probally cos it's a split-r, 1.8T's don't like split-r's. Get a 007p on it
