It injects cold air into the exhaust to help heat up the cat.
As long as you leave the bit on the turret, just remove the vaccum hoses, then the EML will not come on.

It takes warm air from the manifold and injects it into the cat to warm the cat up quicker to reduce emissions.

No it doesn't - nothing gets injected into the cat
It pumps air into the Exhaust System to increase the efficiency of the combustion by increasing the air content to help burn unburnt fuel and raise exhaust temperatures - which warms the Cat up sooner

Spot on, and its only needed in a few foreign countries where they test emissions from turn of key
