any bright sparks out there got any ideas? i know i cn take the starter off and lock it there but its a pain to get off , and the gearbox is obviously still on so thats that idea out the window ? any advice will be apreciated

Is this for changing the cambelt? If so we just put it in 5th and pressed like hell on the brakes

Why do you want to lock it? If you want to get the crank pulley off then stick it in gear and get someone to put the brakes on while you undo the nut.

yeah do as they suggested! that is if the engine is still in the car!

took me 2 days to take the crank bolt of the engine which was out of the car

If you mean taking the Crank pulley off breaker bar wedged on floor a click the starter
