Both gearboxes will be mechanically identical, im sure the mountings and mounting points will be different though.

i think the cav has a wr version where as the astra is cr.
may depend on the model, cav cdx is defo a wide ratio one.

I used to hate that problem on my old corsa, rev the nuts off it, change gear, only to be sitting at 1500rpm again

there was a 5 door 2l corsa in total vaux a while back which had the wr box, it did 80 mph at something silly like 2000 rpm.
the engine isnt gonna pull from those revs kin 5th very well.

The best thing you can do is go to your local scrappy, get a 4-speed close ratio box from a 998 mini and bolt it onto the back of your food mixer... sorry imean vauxhall block... the smaller engine will have needed a shorter final drive as well so you can weld that on the rear of your skip... sorry i mean corsa... and call it rear wheel drive.. WINNER!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There all close ratio. just have different final ratios adding a few mph on top of each gear.

They do an F16 in wide ratio as well.
4 speed boxes are usually good for acceleration
