Surprised there isn't already a thread about it! So last one ever was on last night, I thought it was pretty good tbh, very unexpected!
Was confused at first but it came together to make sense. Strange it was never actually about time travel in the end anyway! So I take it Drake's dead now?
What was the point in the person saying he was Sam Tyler, they never brought him back into it again, was hoping the real one would make an appearance at the end

Basically they were in dead copper limbo... lol.
All constructed from Hunt's head (as he died many years ago) and the pub they went into at the end was heaven.
Oh and that other copper who went a bit mental (with the glasses) was the devil. Thus the reference of trying to get the others to come into the lift, which was gonna take them down to hell. At least how that's how I understood it!
Yes, it is pretty damn weird.

It was Hunt that I didn't understand, is he just some go between guardian angel in essence to help them on their way?

I had to watch it twice..lol
Seems to me that Hunt (who is also a dead copper and possibly not ready to move on himself) takes on these troubled souls who aren't ready and helps them make sense of their lives and then when they work it all out can go to heaven.
The way Keats kept making those noises made me feel quite uncomfortable!

It was proper weird ending to the show though.

This exactly how I read it.
I fear there may be some parts whereby the stories don't quite add up from the beginning to the end. i.e. I can't remember if Drake knew about Sam Tyler before or after she was in the Ashes to Ashes world. But I don't know how Life on Mars ended, as to whether Sam Tyler survived and went back to the real world.
Did anyone notice the guy who came running into the police station office asking for his iPhone - they've left it open for another series. It won't the same without Drake, Raymondo etc.
EDIT: Oh, and best line of the night. "Ich bin bloody knicked".

I'm not sure if they set it up ready for another series, or if it was a 'life goes on' sort of ending.

It was far too obvious an ending for another series.

I hope they don't do another series, but you can see how it could be made into another.
However I thought the "Where's my iPhone?" statement was shit and only for those who need to realise he's just left 2010.

It was from Life on Mars, one of Sam Tyler's lines was 'Where's my Jeep' when he first arrived...

wow, just watched it, fantastic stuff, so he was some angel helping them to make sense of themselves and be at peace before passing on? But he isnt ready to move on himself, he has to guide them, be the 'guv' bit sad though, but a good ending.

As for the best line - it's got to be from Life on Mars: I'm Gene Hunt. Your DCI. And it's 1973. Nearly dinner time. I'm 'aving hoops
