I dont like the normal Polo but like the look of this one (baby Golf GTI which I like the styling of to start with) and the write up makes it sound a good drive too...

18k starting price though plus options Might go for a spin in one anyway just to see what its like for myself.

expensive, but I like it.

I like the Ibiza Cupra/Bocanegra too. Not so much the Fabia vRS but the vRS+ has a nice black grill that improves the looks.

A lot of manufaturers are going down the TSi route, they are very good engines.

Ye but for what you are paying for a 1.4 TSI with 177bhp you could pay less/same for a 2.0 turbo with 250bhp with all the same spec. If you had the choice you wouldnt waste your money

Although 18k is expensive, it's not expensive compared to 19k for a clio.

Fair enough. Its the last of the old model basically though hence it being so cheap.

Astra will depreciate faster than the Polo making the Polo cheaper in the long run.

If you had the choice though surely you would spend your money on something better? Dont get me wrong i think the Polo is a nice car but it should be priced more around the £14-15k mark atleast. £18k is far too much for a small hatchback. As for depreciation id say the Polo would lose £3k as soon as it comes into the hands of the first owner. No-one will pay anything close to £18k for a second hand hot hatch.

When i say better i mean spec wise. BHP, extras, boot space, interior space, seats, etc.

If I was looking at Astra size/type cars I'd buy a Focus ST or a Golf GTI. But thats a bit off topic.

I don't know what you're all complaining about the price for tbh.

They set their price based upon the type of people they want to sell the car to. They know what will sell and at what price. If they wanted to knock out cars like the megane or clio they would, but they don't.

All VW care about is their profit margin, like any other manufacturer.
