When I come out of uni I wanna get a VW Golf GTi 1.8 Turbo hopefully. I think they are pretty nice motors and are pretty rapid!!! What does everyone think?

Cheers

Mk 1 and 2 GTIs are quite quick with great handling as standard. Classic hot hatches. Unfortunately VW lost the plot with the Mk 3 and 4 - fat, lardy and too refined. Having said that the Mk4 GTI is very tunable for little pennies - 225bhp is quite easy to achieve.

Yeah deffo nice cars Old man was goin to get one sed it was very refined and a good drive..not breath taking rapid but quick enough

Steer clear of the new 2.0 GTi's (non turbo) they are lame with 115 BHP basically they are just badged as GTi's in England but through out europe they are just plain jane models.

Well build, reliable, quite tunable, loads of potential and kits and bits available. Id go for it given the chance. But dont get a 1.4 MkIV they are dead as fcuk, seriously slow. 1.6 not much better, id go for a 130bhp or even better 150 bhp TDI
