I had a shit experience flying back from the Canaries, I was hungover to fuck, didn't eat or drink much all day, could barely breathe when we got on the plane at night, had to have oxygen and everything!

Been fine on the 4 flights i've had since then though.

I'd guess it's mind over matter really, just try and relax, and probbly take sleeping tablets like you said.

As Lloyd Christmas pointed out 'statistically you're more likely to be killed on the way to the airport'.

I'd suggest taking an iPod or something and just try and imagine you're on the train or something? I'd never flown til last year and was bricking it but personally I enjoyed it.

I understand your fear, 300 people in a tin can 5 miles in the air travelling around 500mph just sounds disastrous.

I'm not scared of flying just don't particularly like it.

I'm the same tbh. I've done the whole 5 hour flight with a stinking hangover before, through turbulence sitting beside a fat smelly women and her kid.

Needless to say I now hate flying.

THIS.

Plus statistics are shit. If 1 in 20 people die from an illness, that may be good "odds" but that matters little to the poor cunt whos dead.

If you crash in a plane you die.
If you crash in a car, chances are you will live.

Simples.

you simply cant live life with this attitude, like it or not you are going to die one day, if its on a plane so be it, nothing you can really do about it

apart from stay iindoors and dont do anything that anyone has died from ever.. People have died wanking, better start giving that a miss
