"GMA X3000/X3100 on Windows. T&L and Vertex Shaders 3.0 are supported by Intel's newest 15.6 drivers for Windows Vista as of September 2, 2007"

update the drivers and try it again

I chose my operating system, Windows vista business 32bit, downloaded unzipped, clicked setup and was greeted with a message saying:

"The driver being instaled is not validated for this computer. please obtain the appropriate driver from the computers manufacturer.

Setup will exit."

Incidentally i did also try using Viao update but nothing came of it.

What do i do? srry for being an annoyance

there is a work around for this.

I found a driver on the sony uk site, try it first:

http://support.vaio.sony.eu/computing/vaio/downloads/info/info.aspx?l=en_GB&url=Downloads/IN/D/VID/INDVID-01594804-UN.exe&m=VGN-BX61MN&ip=INDVID-01594804-UN.htm

if not then you'll have to use the one from intel with the workaround

I've just downloaded the Somy Viao update like you said it updated it from 16/3/o7 to 26/6/o7 but still gave the same error message:

"Your graphics card does not meet the minimum requirements:
- your graphics card does not support shader model 3.o"

thought that might be the case, but was worth trying.

ok, you're gonna have to use the file from Intel (from the first zip you downloaded).

Work-around
A work-around is available if you choose not to use your computer manufacturer's validated graphics drivers and want to install Intel's generic graphics drivers instead. However, if you encounter problems with using the generic driver, Intel recommends reinstalling and using the validated drivers from your computer manufacturer.

The work-around involves using the Windows* "Have Disk/Known File" method for updating a driver. A disk is not needed. To apply the work-around, follow these steps:

Ok i have just followed that to the letter and although the Intel driver is dated 2oo9 and the vaio driver is dated from 2oo7 when following the intel steps it tells me

"the best driver for your device is already installed"

and doesnt give me an option to install the new driver???
