I'd go to the police to see if it was handed in, not a big chance of that though. Cancel cards etc etc is the only thing you can do.

Might be a good idea to report it anyway incase anything is used for fraud. Like your driving licence etc. Would be some kinda comeback if anything happened.

Yeah I know!!!
The wife thinks she may have put it on top of the back of the sofa so my son couldn't get it because i'd left it on the coffee table. It had fallen down between the back of the sofa and the wall.
Thankfully I only have one debit and one credit card so no big issue. The wife has cards on our joint account too so still got access to money!
New cards arrive in 5-7 working days!

wtf? report to the police that you lost your wallet?
I've lost wallets / phones in the past and never rung up the police.
- If you lose your wallet, tell the place you lost it at, then ring the banks and cancel cards and order new driving license etc

Quality
A couple of years ago we were burgled and my mum had her handbag nicked (with purse and all her cards). Called all the card companies and cancelled everything straight away.
Literally 5 minutes later there was knock at the door. Someone had found her bag with everything in it (bar £20 cash) including all cards. Gutted

As someone mentioned I think its meant to be good practice to inform police incase its handed in at a Cop Shop and also for covering yourself if someone uses it as false identity etc.

I lost my wallet once, it turned up down the back of my mates sofa 4 years later! Was a bonus to get it back as it had £40 in it
