I don't understand why people have more than 1 of the same type of bike.

Just because 2 bikes are full suspension like my blur and anthem it does not make them the same type of bike. My Blur is a bike i can ride hard and it comes back for more, the anthem is more lightweight and XC suited.

Yes i like the Anthem but it depends what sort of riding you are doing. The Giant Trance would get my vote for a general bike i think, the Anthem is more XC and does not have mass's of travel.

I always thought specialized were like the top brand of bike, not trying to put down anyone's bike here.

I looked at the carbon version but I push mine quite hard when I'm at trail centres and I don't think I could trust the carbon one. I've hard a ride of one and they are slot smoother than the normal lt2.

I am worried that i will end up damaging it but then chatting to people about carbon bike in general they said "what would damages a carbon bike will damage a alloy one just as much". So decided to go with one and see how it holds up.....

I would go for a Trance as if you decided to do some biking its going to be a better all rounder imho.

A full susser sounds OTT for just travelling to work and back and the odd bit over a field.
If Santa Cruz are anything like Specialized are with their carbon bikes you're supposed to have them inspected every time you crash them to check for damage in the carbon or the warranty on the frame is void Sod that.
