I'm considering over winter getting a cheapish run about - I'd like something that still looks alright, still goes ok and handles ok - but does better mpg than my s2000. (I get 250 miles to a tank ~ 50ish litres)
So when I parked in a car park the other day and saw a nice lowered black audi TT I thought... hmm... there's an idea. Being the 1.8 lump too it should be pretty easy to tune with just a simple remap.
Looking online they're fairly cheap.

I'm considering getting a caterham style car for track / fun next year ~ 300 - 400 bhp / tonne is what I want the TT could be a nice daily driver if it doesn't drink too much fuel.
Anyone owned one?

I don't want an audi tt for a track car - it'd be shit.
I was talking about it as a daily driver based on the prices.
Then as a fun / track car getting a caterham

I thought a map on these cars could improve fuel econ? like it does on golfs etc.

To be honest, most that have the 18s, just need lowering and they'd look great.
It came stupidly high as standard.

the wife had one exactly the same as that, was a nice car.
She's chopped it in and now got a newer 2007 2.0T FSI.
Very fun to drive, stick likes shit to a shovel and the fuel consumption isnt too bad when driven sensibly.

they are not cheap to run and you will not see above 30mpg
I had a few electrical faults but over all a good car
Had AVUS silver with red leather and QS alloys

Also get a face;ift version 52 plate onwards and the ride height is lowered by 20mm on the 225 as standard

I've been considering swapping my LCR for a 225 TT.
Would have to be a 2002 onwards for me to try out the custom code VVT attack remap (if their claims are correct).
most are about £8-£9k for the ones I like.
oh, and I get about 25mpg

if you get one then the BAM engine is the one to get.
The previous engine can't have the VVT attack software, but will still remap to about 260-270bhp
