Anyone ever owned one of these? Particularly looking at the 1.9JTD. I know I'm going to get the standard fix it again tomorrow
Seen a tidy silver ELX one up for sale locally, and I'd quite like a diesel again. A bit of research tells me they'll remap well but the clutch and flywheels don't seem to be up to much? Anyone have any experience? cheers

Fix It Again Tony
Fix It Again Tomorrow
I would rather die in a house fire then own a mk1 or mk2 Punto, Mk3's are quite nice though. My mates mk2 use to run out of oil alot, thats all I can tell you.

I drove a mates mk1 1.2 sporting... for what it was it was a laugh to drive. He blew the HG on it though
My mums neighbour has a mk2 and it seems to keep going and going and going with no maintenance whatsoever

My gf has a mk2 1.2 punto, parts are cheap but there cheap for a reason.
In the space of 20,000 miles it went through 4 sets of brake pads. Not sure if thats normal or not? but i havent changed the brake pads on my corsa since ive had it and there fine

I had a mk1 and mk2
Mk1 was good, cheap tyres
Mk2 i hand braked it and went square on into a high cerb, not realising i had snapped the engine mounts the gear box then blew up
Good cars imo, would have another MK2!

so someone has something positive to say then i'd be interested in remapping it... apparently with an uprated clutch/fly they are good for 130bhp?

I had a punto hire car that i had to drive all the way home from Cornwall...7 hour drive....was one of the worst experiences of my life TBH
I spent most of the way playing with a kind of sport button that did fuck all

Well my Punto has been spot on.
The engine in that shape is pretty much the same as in my shape.
Wouldn't like an old shape though - dash lay out is rank.

You know, my Punto GT is a car that in some ways I had kept.
I bought it with 70k miles on it, done 30k in 18 months without a problem, sold it to AK and Fee ran around in it for a bit with it mapped and they sold it on, was super reliable.
Handled badly though, very badly.
My dad had a 1.6 8v Sporting as well which was a nice car, I've not had a bad experience with Fiat

No one I've know who owns a fiat/owned one has a bad word to say about them, which despite the stereotype does fill me with a bit of confidence.
I'd rather a grande punto deano in all honesty, but I don't have much of a budget with a mortgage and debts to pay off

I bought a mk1 with 12 months mot,
sender unit burst on the way home
Backbox fell off
Manifold blew off
Garage squashed the lambda = overfuelling and wouldnt start, also wouldnt rev past 3k or 80mph after that
