I'm getting a new car at the end of the month but really can't decide what, stuck between a few at the moment, the problem is
it needs to be relatively cheap to run and maintain so I can't
have anything remotely interesting
I've got £2k to work with, not a penny
more.
Not bothered about body shape but if it's a
hatch it needs to have the right amount of doors!
Not having another BMW either, too expensive to keep, even when you work in the trade
So, one of the above or something else I haven't considered?

Too many doors, and I can't afford
new coilpacks every Friday

Find one with the right amount of doors, if I was needing a car with them requirements I'd be looking at something similar.

Almost good choices, but personally I'd change the Golf for a VR6 model, or the Astra for a 2.2 SRi.

He won't get a decent VR6 for 2K...i know i looked.
And the 2.2 isn't worth the extra petrol etc etc over the 1.8.

I'd love a VR6 but I don't have a petrol station in my garden, the missus had one but it drank like a fish.
As for the 2.2 Astra, I'd rather save the money on fuel, insurance and tax and have the smaller engined car which feels identical to drive

Yes, and £1500 for a GSI is pretty cheap.

Friend has a 2.2 Astra. Nothing but problems. Shit slow. Just a shitter tbh. 1.8 would be a much better option from what ive heard and know.
