Afternoon team,
Whose backing who for the British Open next weekend then?
Graeme McDowell looks to still be playing well following the PGA win but I think Mickleson will come good for it.

Thats a good shout mate, he's been playing well recently. Surely about time a British person won eh?
Maybe this is Monty's year?

As great as player monty was (is) he will never win a major unfortunately.
As for Mickelson, I don't think he will do well next. I think the chance of becoming number 1 is getting to him recently and that has shown in the last few rounds.
Oh, I wouldn't right Tiger off either. I cna see him doing very well next week.

Tiger is a massive price at 11/2 each way top 7 with paddypower, massive value on him in the top 7 so will be backing him at that price each way, some shitty firm is 6/1 but i want the first 7
Other 2, Ross Fisher, good links golfer, shown glimpses of form these last couple weeks
Another person. Chris Wood, another big links golf player, brilliant in the wind, and another big price
Those are my three for the time being

All good shouts mate. Tiger was immense in 2001/2002 I think it was when the Open was at St Andrews.

T Woods loves this course, i think it's one of his favorites
C Woods has had a good season. I reckon he will be there or there abouts. But I think a bit too young to win a major.
Rory Mcilroy, but again maybe too young to win a major

Graeme MacDowell. Good form at the moment.
Unsure on Kaymer, not swinging well atm.

Missed a put on the last green last year for birdie, if he had got it he was in the playoff, and would have had a really good chance against stewart cink, and tom watson, who had lost his bottle before the playoff
I am only a little bitter as i had 20 each way at 250/1 on him

I was gutted Cink won, I can't stand him.
I didn't realise Chris Wood was so close last year.

Gone for Mcdowell as my main bet, with Rose and Mcilroy as my smaller bets
Would of gone for woods but would have to have a bit of spare cash to make it worth while.

Very good links course player. Likes playing at St Andrews and has won there before (obviously not the open).

Added Steve Stricker to my bets last week, after he shot his 60 in round one i knew the 50/1 couldn't last, decent links player aswell
Who would you rather back, Justin Rose at 25/1 or the world number 3 at 50/1, ridiculous price for both
I'd still back stricker over Rose if the prices were switched, yes rose won a couple, but nothing with this quality field

I think someone like Stricler is worth a go!
Also, about time Vijay Singh won something too

Stricker is worth a go purely because of his short game. His short game is one of the best in the world and you need that at St Andrews

Justin Rose & Rory are my bets. Can see them playing well tbh!
My brother was at the evening meal last night for this event, and is going back for the closing round.
Regarding what you said about Monty... I would absolutely LOVE for him to win a major, but just can't see it happening, such an ace player, but has the worst luck on the last few holes whenever he's leading. Pressure may just get to him?

I'm not sure what it is but never say never. Tom Watson was so close last year and he is a lot older than Monty. I just don't think Monty will do it now. I hope Westwood doesn't turn out the same as he is a great golfer.
Guy at work is working either at St Andrews or Celtic Manor, can't remember which and the tip around there is McDowell or Woods.
He's been quite good with the tips this year. He tipped Dustin Johnson in the US Open. Just a shame about the final round

I have small bets on:
Poulter about 20's
F.Molinari about 40's
McDowell about 30's
Jiminez about 100/1

Rose 18/1
Rory 12/1
Good odds imo!
