Wouldn't expect you to have a grasp on science.

the chicken didnt just appear one day
it would have evolved from some other creature! or organism.
it would have been born in its current state years ago. and it would have been born inside an egg!

Could have evolved from something that gave birth without an egg.
So from that you have a chicken born straight from the muff (no shell) of some other living thing.
The chicken then gets humped by the male evolved chicken (cockrell) and an egg is produced.
Thats my theory on it anyway.

Evolution is obviously more complicated than it looks from the replys in here.
I recommend The Blind Watchmaker by Richard Dawkins, not many pictures though and the writing is probably too small.

The egg came first I imagine, even humans are born from eggs it's just that they're internal and don't have a shell.
I've not read the article but is it something along the lines of the chicken evolving into the state it is now and then eventually popping out a fertilised egg rather than gestating it internally?
I don't claim to know much about genetics

Apart from the fact both are called an egg there aren't many more similarities.
A human is not born from the egg, it just happens that a certain type of cell is called an egg.

Yep, I bet 99% of people couldn't give a shit about what came first. At the end of the day, we've got them both.
