My GF mentioned about getting some professional pics taken of herself for memories etc. but she also said it was really expensive. I would like to suprise her for her birthday and get her booked in for a shoot, trouble is i dont have a clue where to start/how expensive it is/how trustworthy the companys are etc etc
if anyone can shed any light id be really appreciative
thnaks peeps

Well there's a few photographers on here... Maybe worth asking one of them?

Best bet is to just do a search on the net for a local small studio photographer.
There are some fairly major firms out there offering shoots with a low standard price but they really push hard for prints afterwards and can end up being very expensive - Venture springs to mind.
You'll get a much better service from a private photographer, but be prepared to pay a couple of hundred quid for their time.
Or you could as said find someone off here on the cheap, but in all likelihood they won't have the right skill or equipment.

Venture are massively expensive but if you can look past that, the pics are OK. My mate got some ages ago and I remember being in utter disbelief at the price.

Yeah, photos should be fairly similar quality whoever you use, I just hate the way Venture operate and treat some of their customers

main thing to make sure of is to make sure they stick to the price they give you. alot of companys tend to tell you in only £60 for the day but then charge you £500 for the photos. so you want to make sure everything is included in a pre arranged price

Hi look much better than the usual drivel you see.
Professional photo's are a complete rip off, normally worse than somebody with a point and shoot camera.

I would give him a based on the photos he has already taken.
There will be hundreds of 'photographers' local to you. There might only be one good one though! So many people seem to think they can do it, but few are actually worth paying for.

Unless she is a moosepig you should be able to find plenty of togs building their folios that will shoot her for free and give you hi-res images on a cd, known as a TFCD shoot.
You can then arrange to have any prints done yourselves.
anyone that pays big bucks for pictures is silly imho.

I dont know anyone in your area but have a look on netmodel and maybe purestorm. There are sub forums that have togs looking for work or togs offering TFCD shoots to build their folios. Just send them a pic of your gfriend and ask if they are interested in shooting her. Obviously take a look at their folio to make sure they are not a mongoloid photographer and you should be away
