right so my cupra came with hids in, i think theyre 6k at a guess.

ive just ordered some 10k for my fogs.

now what im wondering is it the ballasts that determine the k-rating or the bulbs? as if possible i was going to put the 10k on my headlights and 6k on the fogs. cant just swap the bulbs as they are different fitaments.

and please dont reply with 10k looks shit comments, i like it and its my car so i dont care

10k looks shit.

The Kelvin rating is colour temperature, nothing to do with wattage.

Most hids are 35w, 50w requires 50w bulbs and 50w ballasts.

As per post above.

The K rating is colour temperature, which is the bulb, the wattage is seperate and the bulb + ballast must have the same wattage, normally 35 but some kits are 50.

higher the K the lower the light output

Best performce in terms of light output is 4.3k

6k or 8k is the limit for everyday use i feel

Also rain affects performance of 6k and 8k as the light index is absorbed by the droplets more reducing light put further

Incorrect, you need headlight units designed for hids.

Although you'd never get pulled, projector headlights designed for normal bulbs aren't good enough.

Some cars with standard hids also don't come with projectors.

This. Although most cars with HIDs do actually have projectors.

Just make sure you have washers and auto levelers.
