After a few beers one evening i talked myself into buying another 5 door to re-shell my current car, the idea was to find a clean example with next to no rot underneath and fairly good nick paintwork.
Its taken about 5 months and a lot of hassle to find one but the other night me and my bro drove to leighton buzzard and picked this smoke grey 5 door GLS up for £295
Quite a clean car with all the electrics, only issue was the head gasket had gone so the next day i set about stripping the engine out

As some of you may have read in my other project topic found HERE I've had a C20LET engine since may this year, i've been spending some time on it re-building and cleaning it all up as i quite fancy a turbo 5 door.
Its standard spec but has new:
Cambelt kit
Water Pump
Oil Pump
ARP bolts throughout
Headgasket
Roose Hoses
I also got Loom, ECU, Hubs, Shafts, Gearbox/linkage, Mounts, Spacers with it a a fair price.

Engine will look well in the more door. What bolts did you use to mount the engine to the stand? I can never find any lol

Hiya mate, the other car is still on the road but its done over 175k and is showing signs of rot along the chassis rails etc. plus it doesn't have te electrics such as windows, locking that this one has. It's done me well for the past 5 years but i'd much rather get this newer shell mint and converted while having a car on the road for shows/everyday use that way i dont need to rush anything either

Thanks Lads, ok i'll be either looking at a corsa gsi rad or an alloy one i think. Seen one by txautosport? not sure how good they are though tbh
Also looking into keeping the powersteering since i have the rack etc. already fitted to the car, heard nightmare stories using the c20let pas pump and M-tech bracket as the pipes run quite close to the turbo manifold, so i think i'll have a look at getting an Astra G pas pump (electronic) which i could mount anywhere in the engine bay. as for wiring ? i'm unsure so will need to look into that a bit more unless anyone here has used one?
I'm waiting for the weather to brighten up a bit, but hopefully i'll have the chassis plates welded today and start prepping the engine bay
Oh no Dale, whats happened?
Well heres a couple of quick pics of the engine after a bit of a tidy, up i've still more to buy and more painting to do but its getting there, cambelt cover & rocker cover will be going a mettallic grey once its in the car

Thanks Shaun, yeah the new shell is quite clean, couple of very minor patches but as its up in the air i can take my time and get everything spot on
