Well the house fund can wait a little longer.
With the Corsa being off the road for the past month or so with tracking issues etc and now sold anyway, I'm doing too much mileage in the van during the day for work and getting very bored / pissed off of using it when I go out socially
I soon got the itch for another car and started looking at a shortlist of cars, ended up going up to Bristol and purchasing this.
I wanted a red or grey one and preferably with its fair share of toys / extras and obviously had to be a clean base.
So here's the Radish after a quick wash this PM:
Didn't touch the interior, but took a pic anyway!
Then made a start on tidying up the paintwork - it's covered in swirls and hologrammes which I'll address at some point. I just wanted rid of the bird etchings on the bonnet (there were lots!) which stood out like a sore thumb.
After some 2000g wet & dry and 3000g trizac, 3 stages of machine polishing:
Much better
So it's a Cooper S JCW with the optional Bullet alloys which I love (woman owner though so kerbed a lot! ) full leather, chilli pack, Harman Kardon stereo (which is bloody awesome!) and a few other bits and pieces.
No real plans for it tbh, I'm enjoying the whole standard car thing atm - quiet and comfortable and pretty nippy (197bhp) loving the supercharger noise too! Will be removing the bonnet stripes when I machine it as they are fubarred anyway and I don't like them.

Kept looking at these earlier in the year but so expensive for their age. On the other hand hold their money well!
Keep the stripes though

Cheers all. Yeh I kind of wanted a red one to make it stand out once it's been detailed tbh!!
Always loved them since they came out but always been way out of budget. They do hold their value very well as I've had to go a little older than I wanted to in order to get one.
And yup I was awaiting the rants - but I don't have an LCR so I may get away with it

No I'm not sCeNe enough I was looking at Fabia VRs too but that's not really sCeNe either. I'll sort that out when I replace the van though as a Caddy is firm favourite for that!
Andy, it's on an 03, I wanted something 05 onwards originally.

What do you think to the cooper s?
Ive been thinking about changing to one and had a test drive at the weekend. Although its about par with my Ibiza it didnt seem to accelerate as quick. Handled awesome though!

Marc - hopefully It's not a pretty sight in sunlight atm!
Will - engine mods quite possibly, track days, not so sure I trust myself to risk it!
Simon - Overall very happy / impressed with it. Never driven an Ibiza, but cleaned a few. Build quality is a lot better for definite, acceleration - it doesn't seem to take off as quickly as even the XE did but it does get up to speed quicker than you think - it'll do 90 in 3rd without trying lol. Handling is bloody amazing - been throwing it round corners and roundabouts far quicker than I ever could in the XE!
Not so keen on their appetite for clutches though - it's on its 2nd clutch already. PAS can have issues too. And obviously they're not cheap to run / tax / replace parts on partly down to being BMW based lol. £245 p/a to tax, 30mpg best and £1k to replace clutch / flywheel for example!

Had a shot of a normal Cooper S and wasnt impressed at all with the speed side of things. But when it hit some corners, that soon made things even.

I'm very tempted to leave it as it is tbh (bar stripes gone) - it's growing on me!
Plastics you won't want to touch with a barge pole, they're rather loaded with silicone from the previous owner, and I'm trialling a product on them that was originally designed for Mini plastics which is also silicone based Too much black and it'll run the risk of looking like a ladybird
