I was a passenger in a car crash that was not the drivers fault, the other car pulled out infrobt of us without looking, onto a 40 road. I have done something to my wrist and have wiplash.
I was wondering how long people have had to wait for a payout being a passenger, my mate has been fairly efficient and has logged it blah blah, the womans insurance company has just tried to call me, I didn't think it would happen so quickly

If liability is not disputed then probably 3 months from date of the accident. You will have to attend a medical examination which may take a few weeks to arrange also.

It is also graded on severity of symptoms and duration of symptoms.
Also the psychological impact of an accident again graded on severity.
Everyone harks on about 3-4k but you will only get that in severe circumstances.
For mild to moderate you could be looking sub 2k.

thanks for replies, anything would be good tbf. If they gave me £500 I would be happy enough. I thought they usually took like 6 months?

I'd say your looking at around 1 year from start of claim to payout.
I had wiplash, I actually did as well. I couldn't walk for a week as my body stiffered up, back, neck etc. Wasn't nice, took me over half hour to walk to the doctors 100m away I had a interview, and medical within weeks, but the legal work is what took the time to go through.
I got over £3k, as did my partner.
In fact, anyone I do know thats claimed, generally has had over £3k.

If its clear cut and nobody drags their arses it can be 3 months. There is no exact times cale, depends if your solicitor actively pursues your case or if you file just sits around etc. If liability is in dispute then you could be looking at a long time.
My claim took 9 months because the third party were bulshitting and it took them this long to come clean and admit liability (even though they admitted it at the roadside).
I know someone who specialises in claims of this type and the timescale can be as short as 3 months especially if you have your medical examination early on. Also no claim is ever finalised until you state that you have completely recovered from your injuries.

Speak to my dad.
His claim has been running for about 4-5 years now.
Hate this government. If he's have got his injuries in America, he'd have seen well over 500k, and got it straight away.
No, not here, here we argue costs, argue the toss over everything, drag it on for 5 years, offer minimal payouts, for injuries that he will really suffer for the rest of his life with.
Meanwhile, foreign tosser that jumped the red lights got some points and a nice little fine, of which is off his license, but that doesn't matter as he's left the country again.
Scumbags
Meanwhile, people putting in false claims get paid out within months sometimes.

Mines been going on for 10 months now. Still waiting for my medical examination. I was off work for 8 weeks and i'm still having back and neck problems. Doctor thinks alot of it is due to being squashed into a van i dont really fit into. Not a clue how much im looking at getting.

My Dad got knocked off his pushbike over 2 years ago, his claim is still ongoing as he isn't willing to settle whilst his injury still affects him. He doesn't have full hand movement and this affects him in his hobbies (skydiving/windsurfing) and day to day activities. Obviously they want to settle as they know the amount they have to pay out will only go up. Basically, if you're not fit, don't settle, it'll be worth fighting for more and any decent doctor will see you are still not back to normal.

Well just got a message from the insurers and the 3rd party have accepted liability. Although my wrist damn hurts and I am feeling a little stiff, not gunna both claiming, the poor old woman we hit was really shaken and I was trying my best to calm her because she was really lovely. It's not worth me scrounging say 1-2k if it will affect her premium, as any old person I am sure she gets robbed enough
I say this but how much will her insurance prem go up if my mate is claiming on his car any way? If not at all then will probably just crack on

Belton - if you feel the pain then i suggest you claim...
I had an accident while in the passenger seat of a friends car, i cut above the eye, whiplash, and was off work for 2 weeks... went back to work, not thinking anythig of it... didnt claim... as i thought it was good to just "MAN UP"
now my back is proper wank... my chest clicks and hurts like hell when it has to click too.
just claim... the premium will go up anyhow

Her premium will go up anyway, even though the other guy didn't claim off me when I had my accident they still account for the fact he 'could' claim and it all goes into the total cost of the accident anyway.

ive seen PI claims settled in less than a month, depends on how long solicitors fuck about for. but now the third party have accepted liability thats usually the bit that takes the longest.

i have had two in my work van, both not my fault. I was parked waiting at a junction when i was hit, i jumped out and walked round the back half expecting an uninsured asain (from bradford highest percent rate of uninsured drivers and the survey said asian community bd3) and it was a little red micra with an old man who must of been 85 , he got out and said he didnt see my hight top transit i made sure he was ok, he started to get very upset and shaking so i just told him to forget about it and carry on with his day. The other time another bloke run into back of me, car in front slammed on so i did and car behind went into same van again. he was a prick but because there was no damage to my van i didnt take it no further , my step and towing ball made a mess of his mondeo.
Its all the people claiming for whiplash etc that puts are premiums up, insurance companys just put the costs back to us, its not them that loose out.

Not when they jump a red light, smashing into the side of him, shattering his thigh/hip in 20 places, ripping all the major muscles in his shoulder, not to mention all the other smaller injuries, the hernias his got now and had operated, or the complete new hip he'll need very soon, or the 3 years off work.
The bloke didn't even come over and see how he was when he was on the floor. Leaving him with serious injruies for the rest of his life, pain when even trying to sleep, more medication than a junkie and the worst state i've ever seen him (and he's had quite a few accidents from racing!).
Don't start me off, see even half the injuries and sufferings he's had, and will have for the rest of his life, and u'll understand. Slowest accident of his life, not even out of 1st gear.
I've not got an issue with immigrants coming to work. I have an issue with them coming to work, breaking the law, getting away with it, leaving a family member suffering for the rest of his life.
Just one of the many injruies from this accident, a nice 14" scar down his thigh.
But yeah sure, I feel good for the guy, living back in Norway, no implications other than 3 points on his driving license.

Again I have absoloutly no sympathy for foreign un insured drivers. If we are letting them live in our country they need to abide by our rules, because it's alot more likely they will not understand our roads
