Hello after a bit of advice,
ive been after an 848 for ages and ive found one with all the carbon and mods you would want.
problem is its 8k with 8 thousand miles on it on an 09 plate with the big service complete.
i rang round a couple of dealers asking what they would give me for it if i was trading it in, and they said 6k.
ive offered my 08 plate street in p/x with 5k on the clocks with 3k cash before i found this out.
My bike books at 4 his at 6 so should i be offereing less cash so as not to loose money if i sell on.
also with the evo model now out should i wait to see what happens with used prices?

6 for a trade in doesn't mean it books at 6.
As an excellent example, if that that held true, Astra VXR's are worth 6.5k.

well book for mine is 4k yet trade in is 4.5k,
at 2 different garages they offered 6-6.5k for the duke that was my point a 2k ish difference, not three

Is trade in really 4.5 or were they giving you 4.5 against something specific?
An easy way to tell is see what similar bikes are up for.

well thats how i was doing it, which means 5.3k ish for mine 8-8.5k for his hence my 3 k offer as his is a private sale

I'd go by that rather than a speculative trade in value.
