Other Euro 5 victims include the 3.2 V6 in the Alfa Brera, the Mazda RX-8 and the VW Group’s 5.0 V10 turbodiesel.

Understandable when you can extract that power from 2.0 or even 1.6 Turbos now

The later Alfa v6 was a GM/Holden unit same as the 2.2Jts

Both found in Vectras if I remember correctly. Both a load of shite, the older 3.2 gta engine was much better, as found in the 147/156

Alfa's new 1750 turbo is pretty good though, 235bhp in the Cloverleaf Giulietta

Shame really but maybe it will mean they will make things lighter and therefore not need bigger thirsty powerplants. Plus the more economical they make hum drum cars that means you could afford to run a proper weekend toy may e

i would hope it meant cars makers made either a sports car or a family car, instead of trying to combine the two.

What if you want both of those things in one car though? You don't want the extra cost and hassle of running 2 cars!

Gtv only had a 3.0 iirc, same one as the 166 and 75 I think, they use them on the hawk status conversions,

our EU5 TDCI engines are brilliant they actually produce more power (5bhp more in the 1.6 and 2bhp more on the 1.4) than the outgoing EU4 engines.

To be honest, Im all for performance at less cost to the environment, but I do disagree with the blinkered 'new cars are better than old' - scrapping perfectly road worthy and non-polluting 'modern' cars (we are talking 1998 onwards??) for new ones

This is only an issue when they start going back through and banning cars which don't meet x emissions standard.

thing is...why should 'low emission' cars get free road tax? This is whats pissing me off about the whole 'save the planet' bollocks...its crap.

I've already had a rant on the honda forum about this, and everyone agreed that the government just play on the country's majority stupidity.

Why do they get free road tax? They still wear the tarmac, use traffic lights and road signs. It properly pisses me off.

The planet is in a cycle of hot/cold...it happens anyway every 14000 years with an Ice Age, and we are already 1600years overdue...so we arent doing too badly. The carbon cycle is closed...so any gasses that woud be put into the the atmosphere will do anyway. We just have to pay because nature is doing what it does.

Thing is, if everyone goes electric...how will they generate that demand? With power stations...and they would have to be gas/coal because they dont like Nuclear and wind doesnt do shit. So they are gonna pollute anyway.

Its a fuckin joke. Bunch of nobheads that just brainwash the common idiot...
