Got a call out today to seize a vehicle that had no insurance in Rochdale.

This was what was wateing for me at the side of the road with the police

I felt kind of tight takeing it. The lad was only about 13 and was caught messing around on it in some quite side street. He looked abit upset as i was driveing off. Ah well its going to be crushed

And they called out a 12 tonne flatbed for that!

Why didn't they just get a rag van or throw it in the boot of their car and take it to the custody suite?

Waste of everyones time there!

What a waste of fuel, time, everything.

And its going to be crushed Why cant they give him it back for a fee on the premise if its caught again in the same way (assume it has a unique serial number?) it then gets crushed, just a waste

Wouldnt have any serial number or anything.

Best of being crushed imo, no chance of him doing it again, ever... Well, unless he buys another lol

either way... taking it off the lad and crushing it will just make him feel hatred towards the police system.

slap him on the wrists, and inform him about somewhere locally where he can ride it off-road legally and he might heed the warning and respect the police.

Or he might think, 'I got away with that, might as well just carry on if thats all they are going to do'.

This way is better IMO. Make the cunt learn.

Suppose that makes me a cunt too then, as I was riding round on crossers at 13 on the 'public highway' got caught once and was given a very stern warning, but the bike wasn't siezed. Told me it would be next time though and for that reason we pushed it instead of rode it.

Right, So I stop mr idiot riding his bike illegally on the road. And say to him if i catch you riding this again its getting seized. Off I go leaving matey to "not" ride his bike illegally on the road. If he gets back on the bike and proceeds to crash/injure/cause damage. I will most likely lose my job. Uninsured vehicles should be off the road, end. I dont care if he loses respect for the police because im doing my job.

Kids with bikes fall, in general, into 2 categories.

Some have farms and enough land to ride them in, the others are neds (chavs for you southerners) one occasion where they should be told to piss off.

A quiet side street is a bit of a piss take though.

Nice work, I wish more of these were taken off the road.

Shame only the slow ones get caught. Loads of quads driving around near me unregistered and uninsured, not really on when legal people are paying loads of money to share the same road.
