Hey guys, i'm starting my new job tomorrow as an apprentice for ford
Really looking forward to it, previously worked at a company dealing with prestige cars, which was okay but the people just couldn't tollerate an apprentice needing that extra time to learn, so i was forever been shouted at and being called names! How-ever after 3 months i left and found myself applying to Ford and after sitting numerous test i've been accepted
Really really looking forward to it, Just dead nervous like a new day of school.. hah!

Job involves following a master techy over a year, not sure for the second, however i have to meet certain achievements and stuff but shouldn't be a problem. They've given me so much information i've been and had 3 interviews and various other things. Because i'm only 18 they asked to see 1 of my parents just to see how they'll get involved to make sure they choose the right candidate, and i think that's a really good idea, because the ford apprenticeship scheme seems really really good i must say.
Pay is £3.50 an hour, which is ALOT better than what i was on at the other company, i was only on £95 a week at other company, whereas i'll be on £140 a week at ford, which will help massively! I'll still be working 6 days a week to afford social-life and insurance like but keeps me busy and means i can buy lots of things for myself
Also the benefits at ford seem great, every month they put £50 in a pot and after your third year when you've completed your apprenticeship they give you £3000 from that pot as a reward. Which is extremely good!

It wasn't just the name calling, it was the constant abuse, i mean constant, it was getting to me and made me feel like i couldn't work and my self-esteem was just so low. I wasn't working properly. Hard to explain but you know when your not working right and you feel so crap you don't want to wake up in a morning.

Nice one, we took an apprentice on at our place last wee (Ford aswell) we only have 2 mechanics though so he's latched on to them, something I wish I would have done when I was younger.
Expect banter, going for tea/coffee/papers. It's all part of being young and working, we all had to do it

No, there was banter and i'd join in. And i did everything else that an apprentice should, sweep, clean make teas etc etc.
Like i said hard to explain, but it was just constant abuse. Not the normal banter.

hello fellow fordy
you will find that the ford apprentice scheme is one of the best around, so work hard and enjoy the rewards when you land a full time job as the pay is superb.

Mental mainly. If i did something wrong they would really shout and moan at me, call me shit cunt, fucking useless twat, all that stuff and be deadly serious too. Which at the end of the day i am young, i am an apprentice they should expect me to go wrong, part of learning. But they just wouldn't tollerate anything they didn't want. If i was going a little slower they'd be like will you hurry the fuck up? And it would just annoy me.. They'd also be-little me quite abit.

You just gotta ignore it, people will be like that in every job you are. Learn how to ignore it, give it back, and just make sure you're doing the best you can, give them no reason to be a cunt towards to.
To be honest it sounds like banter, just taken a bit too far.
