if 10 of you all walked into tescos and agreed with the staff to buy 10 of the same product for a 10%-20% discount, would it happen?

if I wanted it of course

You could really, not sure about Tesco's though. If its a small business you definitely can because I have before when just buying one thing, even in places like Currys you can get discounts on high priced things if you talk to the manager. If I wanted 10 of something though it would be better off going to the manufacturer or outlet.

no not a chance, perhaps in a small self run buissness.

people who work in large buissnesses just dont care/have the authority to do it.

manager might but ive worked in a lot of shops and not one has ever knocked money off for group buys/cash purchases.

a lot of the time the markup on the item is very slim to begin with so knocking more off they end up selling for cost price, not worth it when you consider transportation/stocking/warehouse ect costs.

It depends on the store, tesco you'd have no chance as the managers dont really have the authority. Smaller businesses and electrical (high single item value places) you'd stand more of a chance imo.

I have a mate who works at Countrywide as a supervisor or something, he said people are always asking for discounts in there and he can quite often (if it's not already on offer of course) offer up to 15% off

I was suprised at this, saw it on that gay martin money saving expert program, he said you should always haggle, he went into a load of major elecrtical retailers, comet, currys, dixons etc(probs all the same company anways) and managed to buy a load of TVs far cheaper than the display price by haggling.

I used to work in a large Sainsburys and there used to be two guys who would order two pallets of Nescafe coffee for their shop through the Manager as a customer order and pay for it through the till but they always got a deal on it for buying it the way they did. It was obviously good enough to make it worth while for both parties.

Difference you can always find a sales person in Comet and generally they know their arse from their elbow where any of the DSG group (PC World/Currys etc.) employ complete retards who freak out during human interactiion.
