Hi guys,

I'm buying a dedicated track car won't need MOT or TAX as can trailor it so engine size and insurance group arent an issue.

Ideally i'd prefer something a big bigger than saxo/106 size.

So far i've had a look at E36 328i but seem difficult to get a manual for that money.

Also looked at primera GT being 150BHP and quite light thought it might be a good platform but video's on youtube aren't inspiring me that it's very quick.

Would like it to ideally be as quick as a saxo VTS/2.0 Corsa etc

Links would be great as i'm looking to buy when i see the right one.

Cheers Rob

E36 328's just going to become expensive imo.

Mx5's are a no no, really don't like them at all and they seem so so slow. At combe today we were flying past them in a pretty stock VTS.

I haven't looked at E30's tbh! Just thought they'd all be a bit old now.

was going to say a 180 206 gti but they are holding their price reasonably well so yyour budget wont stretch

could try the 138 206 gti but getting more power from them isnt cheap

205 1.9GTi & a trailor for 900 quid

I quite fancy that for myself....not got a car capable of towing though!!

Me & Jade are going to get a track car next year, thinking about an Evo 5/6 for around 5k.

if your talking about the WR Mx5s thats cos they were only 1.6 NAs, if you look around and it isnt hard to, you'll easily find a Supercharged one or even a BBR Turbo'd one and these are kicking out 200bhp plus!!

edit: if you're not worried about insurance then you can look to your heart's content at retro fitted s/c or turbo'd MX5s

Yeah they were just some examples of what is available out there, the 172 is a fucking bargain.

No Corsa's either i'm afraid. Nothing against them but i've had a few and the handling just wasn't inspiring IMO.

Colin, i don't want to sell the S2000 or the budget would be higher

No idea what they start at but an MR2 would be ideal.
