As far as my knowledge takes me,between the 2 the 'ne' is the 115bhp and the 'seh' is the 130bhp. I'm guessing all the 2.0 8v's out of the calibras were the 'seh's as the calibras are heavy cars but how can you visually tell difference between the 'ne' and 'seh' apart from engine no. ???

Right...the SEH came in the mk2 cav SRi 130 and the mk2 Astra GTE's. All the calibras were NE's...as were the mk3 cavs.

Looking at the engine...there is no real way of telling which is which im afraid.

Internally, the difference was the camshaft duration and a slightly higher compression due to pistons. The ECU was also slightly different.

If you get an NE - the best mods you can do is find a 18e head, port and polish it and put that on...and either get an SEH cam or buy aftermarket.

Very easy engines to tune tbh - i loved mine...and wish i'd got my arse into gear and sorted the little niggles after i had the top end completely redone with Newman cam and P+P etc. Plus, sounded great on the carbs.

want anymore info, gimme a PM.

I reckon it could be mix and match and down to luck tbh.My brother got his old SEH out of a K reg 2.0 8v GLS.Was stamped on the block.
Was owned by an old person and was bog standard.Very much doubt it had a conversion.
